How Does CBD Oil Make You Feel

Does CBD Get You High?

No, CBD does not ‘get you high’. People often assume that because CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant it will make you feel high. This is completely false. The part of the cannabis plant that gives you a euphoric feeling of being high is the THC component not the CBD.

But why?

Well in your body you have something called an ECS (Endocannabinoid System) and it regulates normal functions such as sleep, mood, appetite, memory, pain, inflammation and much more. The aim of the ECS is to help your body stabilise or return to its normal functioning state in situations such as having a bad night’s sleep, pain from an injury or being ill.

When THC enters the body it interacts with the ECS system and stimulates the system to create a wide array of effects on your body and mind. This is what gives you that high feeling.

When CBD enters the body it does not bind itself to the ECS system but stops the body from breaking down endocannabinoids produced by the ECS system. This helps the ECS to maintain a balanced state throughout the body.

So what does CBD feel like if it doesn’t get you high?

How Does CBD Make You Feel?

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly how CBD makes you feel, as there is no tell tale feeling to grasp onto. A good place to start is with current research. There’s an increasing amount of research that demonstrates CBD complementing different areas of health. The type of CBD product you use and the total dosage you administer will also have an effect on the overall end result you’re aiming for.

CBD Product Effects

There are different ways of consuming/using CBD which will affect the way it makes you feel. The simple reason being how they are absorbed by the body.

CBD Oil

CBD oil enters the bloodstream via a membrane under our tongue (we call this sublingual absorption). Therefore it gets to work with your ECS really quickly. Although due to the rapid absorption rate the effects do not last as long.

CBD Capsules

When you take a CBD capsule it dissolves in your stomach and makes its way through your digestive system. This means there is a delay of an hour or 2 before you feel the effects. The benefit of capsules is they are easier to ingest and the dosage is easier to determine as they come in pre-measured CBD amounts. Although it may lose some of its potency during digestion, meaning there is less of an effect on the body.

CBD Balms

Balms are not ingested but are applied directly to the skin. It interacts with ECS receptors closest to the skin and does not enter your bloodstream. Even though balms don’t enter your system they still have an effect on the area applied. Balms are great for targeting specific areas of aches and pains on the body.

CBD Strengths

At fourfivecbd all our products have different dosage strengths to suit your ECS needs. For instance we recommend using the 500mg CBD Oil for newcomers to test the water, and find out how CBD interacts with their body. If you have more acute needs that a low dosage might not be able to deal with we recommend our high dosage 2000mg CBD Oil. In short, the lower the dosage the less of an effect it will have on you.

Types of CBD

There are 3 types of CBD:

  • Full Spectrum
  • Broad Spectrum
  • Isolate

Do they make you feel any different? It’s currently believed that a combination of the cannabinoids, including CBD, in full and broad spectrum products have an “entourage effect”, meaning they all complement each other’s function. Full Spectrum has the greatest combination of cannabinoids and will have the strongest effect on your body compared to Broad Spectrum and isolate CBDs.

At fourfivecbd we use Broad Spectrum CBD, that means most cannabinoids, including CBD, are present with the exception of THC. This is to ensure that when people use our products, they don’t have to worry about THC, which is listed as a banned substance on drug tests for work and sport, being present. Yet they will still benefit from an entourage effect.

  1. does cbd oil get you high

I specifically like CBD Isolate products because they do not contain any THC so I have peace of mind in the case that I have to take a drug test for work because I work for Border Patrol.
